MEP News

March 13, 2020

Dear MEP friends and community,

At Mercy Education Project, it is our priority to keep our students, volunteers, employees and their families safe, healthy and empowered through education. As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread globally, throughout our state and the local community, MEP is taking appropriate precautions to address the outbreak by following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Michigan Department of Human Services (MDHHS).

Last night, Governor Whitmer announced that all K-12 schools throughout the state will be closed until April 6, 2020. MEP is complying with this directive as well: All programming is suspended and our building is closed during this time period. MEP staff will be working remotely during this time and will be available most readily via email. Please send general questions to and they will be forwarded to the appropriate staff member. Additionally, we will be checking the MEP voicemail and returning calls within one business day. Our programming staff are working to continue the momentum our students have made this program year by implementing creative remote learning opportunities during this time.

The MEP Open House scheduled for March 17th will be rescheduled to a later date. The Doorway to the Future Fundraising Dinner scheduled for March 26th has been cancelled. See the Doorway webpage for more detailed information.

We encourage you to stay up to date on the national, state and local response. Please also keep an eye on MEP’s social media channels for up to date information specific to our programming.

Thank you for your ongoing support and confidence in Mercy Education Project. Be well.
